Adele ties "Titantic" with 16 weeks at No. 1 on the charts

(CBS) For the 16th week in its 48-week run, Adele's album "21" topped the Billboard 200 chart, matching the "Titanic" soundtrack's 16-week run on the chart in 1998.

The Grammy-nominated singer's album was released last February and continues to fly off the shelves, selling 104,000 copies last week, according to Nielsen SoundScan, bringing the album's total to just over six million.

In the Billboard 200 history, "21" becomes the 20th album to earn at least 16 weeks at No. 1.

In addition to the "Titantic," Vanilla Ice's "To the Extreme" in 1990 and 1991 reigned for 16 weeks on the charts. Bill Ray Cyrus' "Some Gave All" had 17 weeks at No. 1. in 1992 and Garth Brooks' "Ropin' the Wind" with 18 in 1991-1992. Whitney Houston's "The Bodyguard" soundtrack and M.C. Hammer "Please Hammer Don't Hurt 'Em," earned 20 and 21 weeks respectively, having the most weeks at No. 1 since 1990.

Behind Adele in the No. 2 spot this week is a debut from David Crowder Band with its "Give Us Rest," selling 50,000 copies. The Black Keys' "El Camino" holds at No. 3 and Drake's "Take Care fell to No. 4.
